Please help, re:EAD category C9 with I-485

I\'m so confused. On April 2/01 my papers were mailed from my lawyer. In was listed in category C9 (I still don\'t know why, or what is classifies me as) My lawyer said was sent to Seattle INS. I have heard nothing back, lawyer sayd Sattle does not give receipts and has almost been 90 days. Please help as I need my EAD ASAP. Also I have not had any other visa, I\'m visa exempt as I\'m on visitor status from Canada. Please help ASAP. Also if my EAD is approved will I recieve in mail? I never even did a fingerprint or signature card yet, lawyer said wasn\'t necessary yet, and will go to Seattle office when notified of approval. I think my lawyer is geeking me and don\'t know how to check status.

My EAD receipt also says "Class requested: C09".

You need to get EAD receipt first.
If 90 days passed and the case has not been approved yet, you can go to the local (Seattle?) INS office with your receipt to get an interim EAD.
