I want to help a friend find out about the status of his case at USCIS web site. He filed form I-90 for replacing his GC and got form I-797C, Notice of Action with a receipt number.
When a receipt number is entered, a sort of a time line will be shown concerning the status of the case. The following stages are displayed with one being marked with a darker color as an indication of the current case status:
Acceptance, Initial Review, Request for Evidence, Testing and Interview, Decision, Post Decision Activity, Document Production.
My question is how to go about understanding the shown case status in terms of the time line of the case progress. Does replacing a GC go through all the above stages? If so, how long does the entire process take, keeping in mind that when I inquired at USCIS web site about the processing time of GC at Nebraska Service Center, it came with an average of a 3.5 (Month (s).
It has been more then two months since the notice of action was received, and the case status today was shown as “Initial Review”. Thanks for your input.
