Please Help: Need to apply for AP at local INS-Newark, NJ

New to the forum. Your valuable input is needed.

My I-485 RD 11/22/2001. Approval is not in sight so far. Did not expect the unforeseen delay. Did not apply for Advanced Parole along with I-485 unfortunately. But now need to travel to india. H1-B expired in OCT ' 02. Working on EAD.

Questions)

1) Can we apply for AP at the INS local office at Newark, NJ ? If yes, Could we go on any week day.
2) What all documentation do i need to prepare and go with ?.
3) Any idea how long do they take to issue AP at the local office.
4) If my wife stays back in india, and GC gets approved, can she go for the stamping separately at a later day than myself. How soon she should be back?. Are there any issues at port of entry.

Please share your experience.

---Yes, you can apply and get AP on the same day( any working day), for forms and fees ($110 each) visit immihelp.com

---Your Passport, 485 receipt, 2 Immi style photos, I94's, all you previous H1's and take any much doc you have with, it never hurts to carry additional docs.

3) Any idea how long do they take to issue AP at the local office.

---Same day.

4) If my wife stays back in India, and GC gets approved, can she go for the stamping separately at a later day than myself. How soon she should be back. Are there any issues at port of entry?

Wait until you wife gets back and get the stamping together. AP is valid for 1 year, but check with your attorney regarding the stamping after approval you can wait up to 1 month after you get you copy of approval (conform about the wait). NO issues at the port of entry as long as you have valid AP.

one quick question. Do they ask to prove emergency reasons (any docs..) ? since they issue AP on the same day..

Today I applied AP from the local INS office, DC, they are not issuing AP on the same day unless it is emergency( You have to support the documentation for that emergency). They told me that I will be getting AP by mail with in 30 days, but possibly in one week.

I dont know about NJ/NY.
 
Don't go on Wednesdays

There is no walk-ins on Wednesday. It is reserved for interviews. DO NOT GO FOR WALK-IN AP in NEWARK ON WEDNESDAY.

You don't have to provide a letter unless you provide a very valid emergency like immediate family member illness or even worse.

It also depends on the Immigration Officer on what he may ask.
