Q ) How long does a friend have to come here and get his green card
approval stamnped on his passport. he is in india. He has parole / ead and everything to come back into the country with no issues. He is planning to get it done
in may ( about 6 months after his approval is mailed out) .. any issues

I don\'t think any issues except for the fact that he is already PR and by not being in the US he may put his GC in peril: took up residence in India? has to file taxes as non-resident? and other issues like that.
Stamping itself is done to facilitate travel. Stamping also initiates issuance of plastic.
