Hi, I have just applied for asylum got my biometrics done and stuff.
Thank God I have the best lawyer I could ever wish for representing me.

I'm just really scared and afraid. Would you give me any advice for the interview for asylum??
I'm applying in the Membership on a particular social group ground and my case consists of police violence and the society's violence (and the police that doesn't do anything to stop them) towards me and my "group". My experiences were all when I was underage and that's when I came to this country. And I'm still under 21.

Please, I know almost all of you have been granted asylum and green cards and you will all be citizens and this stuff doesn't interest you much anymore, but please help me. Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you very much!

It is normal to feel scared. Your nervousness will show at the interview, but do not worry - the interviewing officers are good psychologists to recognize what your nervousness is attributed to. It will probably be very difficult for you to talk about everything that happened to you - again, they understand that recalling bad or horrific events from your past can make anyone nervous. I remember that my teeth were chattering and I was stammering through the entire 3 hour-long interview (weird, my hands are shaking even writing this...). But they appreciate your honest answers, so try to answer everything with the utmost honesty. Also, it really helps if you speak good enough English to go to the interview without an interpreter. No need to recite anything before the interview - we tend to remember painful events very, very well. Just be yourself. It will not be anything worse that what it was like back in your country. Good luck.

Best advice, stick with your story, be truthful and consistent. Don't hide your true emotions but don't try to fake them. Be brief and answer precisely. You'll be fine.
Good luck.

Thank you so much guys. I'm waiting anxiously for the interview!
Thanks for the advice!
