H1Problem

My I-485 is under process through my husbands company.But my status was H4 when we applied.
      I got my H1 approved recently after a long wait of 4 months and I applied for my Social security Number.
   When I asked my company to put me on payroll they said they dont have any projects and I will have to stay on bench without pay check.
    My question is what are my options now and will I get into some trouble if my SSN comes and I am still on bench.

Did you apply for EAD?
If you already applied for EAD then you don\'t need to worry on H1B,
You can join anywhere with EAD.

But I think you can have any number of H1Bs. Only it counts when you start working with that company.H1B is just a job offer from company which you can join or reject?If you reject then your old Status will be there. That was my understanding.
I have same problem for 3 months, but luckily I got a project for 4 months and I got salary and W2, then I got EAD and currently working
on EAD
Can somebody correct me please.
