Please Help Me

I have two daughters, 15 and 12. We sent in all the papers and they only charged for me (the mother). They sent me back both of the girls' fees for I-485 and for the 15 year old they also sent back her Biometric Fee. I don't understand why they sent that one back.

This is what the notice said :

Recently, you submitted an application for immigration benefits. That form was submitted with an extra remittance that is not required to process your application, or the incorrect fee was submitted. Your check is being returned to you with this notice. No additional action by you is required at this time.

- Do you think this means that we don't need to pay for this?

If anyone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,

I don't know much about this but I'll try to help, but on the I485 form it says:

Biometrics:

If you are between the ages of 14 and 79, you must be
fingerprinted as part of the USCIS biometric services
requirement. After you have filed this application, the
USCIS will notify you in writing of the time and location
where you must go to be fingerprinted. If necessary, USCIS
may also take your photograph and signature.

So I'm guessing the returned fee for the biometric is for your 12 year old.

I don't know why they would return the fees on the I485 though... You might want to post this in the Family Based GC forum and see what the experts there think... But generally I would say that if USCIS sent the money back, be happy, and you should keep it and put it towards your daughters' college fund :D
