hello,
am presently in US on J1 which was subjected to HRR until recently I got the waiver and the final I-797 from USCIS. My company is ready to sponsor my L1B visa but they are a little hesitant & apprehensive of my scope of rejection on the grounds that I was sent to US by the same company on J1 visa about 18 months back and now again change of status to L1B.. They fear that they may be brought to scrutiny by the consulate

My Question is will conversion of J1 to L1 have any sort of negative impact both on the company and my own case file?

Can I apply for a change of status to L1B right here in US? for stamping is it mandatory to return back to my home country or can I go to Canada/Mexico to get it stamped

i dont know much about L1, but J1 to H1 happens all the time.

all you have to say is that your continuation is required.

and in case of H1 you dont have to get stamping done...you just need to keep the new visa papers with you.

but if you go out of country then u will have to get stamping done, and from what i remember...one has to go to home country only to get the stamping..
