please help me on EB2

Hi all,

Currently I am on H1 and working for state governtment. I am about to file for GC with PERM.

I have other option being sponsored by state govt, How to start this ? Do I need a H1 and then I have to apply for Gc through them ? Or can they directly sponsor the GC for me under EB2 National Interest Waiver ? If any one knows more details about please help me.

Green Cards are for future employment. You can self-petition for NIW, petition by prospective employer or a bit of both (self-petition including proof of offer of employment). This is distinct from H-1.

My advice would be to ensure your H-1 is kept valid while you are in the process, to allow for denials, appeals, new submissions etc.
