Please Help me How does my case look ? :(

I have a quick but very simple (and stupid) question.... I will be gratefull if you can answer. I have a PHD and I am a professor now.

I (my lawyer) applied for I140 and I485 on Dec 2004. My I140 got approved on Feb 22 2005. I gave my fingerprints on April 19 2005. But I have not heard from my I485 (IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME ( )... My lawyer called USCIS several times.. Each time they say it is pending SECURITY CHECK....The priority date on my I140 is June 23 2004 (on I 797 notice of action)... There is no priority date for my I485 (i.e., on I797C notice of action)...MY status is EB2....

My question is I have no idea what PD being current means, and I have no idea what VISA available means.... I am from TURKEY.... would you please tell me if I am ok ???

Also What should I do?

email FBI ?---> I dont know if security check means name check?
write to senators?----> does it work?
write to WH----------> does it work?
sue USCIS----------> I have been waiting FOR I485 since END of December 2004...is it long enough?

You don't need feel so bad at all. Just relax and live on your lives. Some body from the forum just said this system works, just a little slow. Meanwhile, you can try whatever you mentioned. Don't worry abouth PD if you are from Turkey and you are EB2. Really, nothing to worry!

visa availability

There is a visa cap set by the department of state (DOS) to limit the number of immigrants to the USA (Please don't ask me why the USA, the country of immigrants, has set the limit). The cut off date depends on (a) the category an I-485 applicant belongs to, and (b) where the applicant comes from.

You can check the DOS website to find out the current cutoff date and to determine whether or not visa is available for you.

There are a number of outstanding postings that can help you deal with the name check. You can use "search" mode to read those threads.

I recall couple of postings by a guy named "toxsci" and believe he has helped a lot of people including me tackle the namecheck issue. Please check the following threads:
