My employer is Chicago based.
I am eligible for RIR type of GC processing.

If at the current rate of processing times prevail and if i start my GC process by filing labor today (Mar-04-2003)....when can i expect my EAD?

I was trying to track the various sites for timings but iam very confused in calculating all the stages in GC.

Some of my friends say we can get EAD within 1 year...is it true???....but where as when i see all the processing times i get a different picture.

I would appreciate if someone could help me in this regard.

Thank you

immitall,

This is how it works. If you apply from Chicago, LC goes to Illionis SWA first and then to Chicago DOL. Once LC is approved, you can apply for I-140/I-485 includng your EAD etc all together using concurrent filing rule.

Assuming the same processing speed,

SWA: about 3 months
DOL : About 4 months
EAD : 3 months
And lay over time in between this process another 2-3 months.

Adding them alltogether, Yes... :) you could get your EAD in a year !!.

Look for Illinois SESA and Chicago DOL threads in this forum, you will find the approval rate and processing times more closely than the dates given by immigration sites.

Good Luck.
