can a 140 be withdrawn after it has been approved by INS?
if 485 is refused, and we have used the EAD, can the INS say we worked illegally?

I think that 140 can be withdrawn after it is approved if the sponsering company wants to withdraw it.. better check with a lawyer for laws regarding this..

I think your best chance, and the least risky proposition in terms of future effects is to see if you can move to F-2 status asap - or else, B1/B2.
I don\'t think you ever want to get to the stage where the 485 is refused - having a 485 refused is among the worst things to happen, according to some lawyers.
