Hi,
I have a H1B Visa valid till January 2008. I am in US from Jan 2006. I recently changed my job from Company A to Company B. My H1 Transfer process is complete and i got the approval notice also.
Recently, i went to Social Security Office for applying a replacement card (I have a Social Security Number). But its been told to me that my immigration status is B1 and NOT H1.
The SS officer had photocopied all my VISA documents and sent them for verification.
How can such a status change happen? Is it because my previous company had cancelled my H1? I am not able to apply for any state ID's without a Social Security card.
Please advise what might be the issue.
Regards,
