Please Help If Somebody Has The Information

My i485 was send to local NY office on June 17 2005. On web site it was updated, telling that your file has been sent to ny office for them to conduct an interview, and we recieved the notice also telling we will soon call you for interview.Waited and waited. Just checking for updates online. I entered my eac #, it says .On nov 6 2005, We have recieved your file for change of status 485 etc etc, it takes 365 to 540 days to process such kind of case. we will mail you the decision as soon as it is made. I can not understand why they send the file back to Vermont Service Center. please help if somebidy knows about this procedure.

I would like to share my personal experience. Long back I had the same experience, I sent my 485 to local INS office, and after few days I got every thing back with a note that I have to submit it in main INS office. I followed the instruction and after two and a half year’s entire process was completed. I came to know that only few types (category) of 485 are being processed in local INS office initially. You are lucky that they send your application directly to Vermont rather sending it back to you. I hope this will give you some idea that it could be one of the reasons of your file transfer. The time stated in your letter/notice is common. Indeed it’s a time taking business
