Please Help!!! Fbi Name Check

Hi All,
I am an April 2002 filer.
I recived an RFE on Aug 2004, which i have responded.
Someone on this forum mentioned that an RFE which has been hanging for more than 60 days is due to the FBI name check.
1) What is the FBI name check ?
2) How can i caontact them ?

To know the status of name check status, you need to fax a request to the National Name Check Program or NNCP. You can use the attached document for the format. After a few weeks, they will send you an email about your name check status. As far as I know, you can only use fax - there is no phone number to speak with someone and find the status, unlike the FP status check. Goodluck!
