Hi Guys,
Thank you so much for reading my message. I am in a difficult situation and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am a US born citizen residing in the United States (Virginia). My cousin (who lives in India, my mother's sister's daughter) and I are in love. Neither of our familes know about this.
She got her visitor visa (for 6 months) and plans to come to the US this July. We are planning to tell our families then. If by some miracle, they accept, then her and I would get married in India and I would bring her back to the US by filing I-130. I hope this is what happens!
Now, if they do not accept (most likely in our case), we may get married here in Virginia (where it is perfectly legal for cousins to get married). I have read up on Adjustment of Status and the I-485, and other forms she would have to file.
How difficult do you guys think it will be for her to get her status approved? Will it matter that we are cousins? I did not see any place on the forms where it asked such a question. However, my dad did sponser her for her visitor visa.
