Please help. Calling Mumbai consulate for status of AC-140

I have a question. I called the Mumbai US Consulate and had a strange experience. The person said that he could not give me status over the phone and that the consulate would contact my employer. I applied for AC-140 through the Mumbai consulate. I sent the papers using FEDEX and I know they reached Mumbai on the 4th of October.

My questions are,
What do you exactly have to inquire about?
What is the number that you have to call? I called 91-22-2-363-7407. Is this the correct number to call.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can call beg. of next mo. (5th ish) to see if the date is set.
