Please guide me - Received DV NL

I have received my first notification letter yesterday for DV 2007. Here are my concerns, if anybody could guide me, I'll be really grateful:

1. I understand I have to return the forms DSP-122, DS-230(I), DS-230(II) to Kentucky Consular Center. Do I need to send the supporting documents (i.e. birth cert, marriage cert, etc.) at the same time or later? I am residing in U.S. in H4 with H1B in process. My DV case no. is, what is the best option for me in regards to AOS and CP? Definitely, my preference is adjustment of status staying in U.S. But is it going to be risk-free or risky in my case?

2. Once I send the above forms to KCC, how long does it take usually for receiving second letter? What is the probability of me getting the second letter considering my case no.?

3. In case of CP, I must go back to my home country or I can go to Canada or Mexico for the interview?

Thanks.

as you have a high case number, AOS will be really risky for you. cause you see this year upto July only Case no 7225 cas been declared. So you will get your interview in the September /August. I think winners are higher in Asia this year.

2. Once I send the above forms to KCC, how long does it take usually for receiving second letter? What is the probability of me getting the second letter considering my case no.?

you may get 2nd letter for sure, if the average case number is higher than this years. You may check the previous cut offs . But it will not come before August , i guess

3. In case of CP, I must go back to my home country or I can go to Canada or Mexico for the interview?

i cannot answer this one. but i think there is risk of your visa getting cancelled. As you have immigration intent, you may be refused getting visa. I hope Catseyes or anyone may help you more with this question.

which country are you from?

Thank you very much, Mishel. Your reply was informative.

I am in H4 right now but I have a U.S. degree in Computer Science and I have worked with a software giant when I was in O.P.T. I missed H1B quota last year, so my employer has applied again early April and it's on process currently. My husband is also working for one of the largest software companies in H1B and he is from India. So, if we go for CP, can he go with me in my country together for the interview? And in case, God forbid the green card thing through this DV doesn't work out, can we come back with our H1B visa? Also, both of our green card applications (I-140) in EB category are in progress now. Can denial in DV cause any harm to our EB applications?

Sorry for so many questions. Again, I appreciate your help.

Thanks.

My case is somewhat similar to you.My wife is from Croatia and I'm from Pakistan. We have finally decided AOS as we both are on H1b with a very low DV rank for Europe.

I wrote to KCC and asked them if they can process my case in Pakistan...in response they wrote it has to be with the principal applicant in Croatia.

Problem with DV during CP cant't harm H1B as they are dual intent. Also,DV processing will not affect your processing I-140 or I-485 based on some other eligibility. Please consider them mutually exclusive or independent from eachother.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me, Jugnu786. You are doing AOS, so do you have a low case no.? I really would love to do mine in AOS as well but in a dilemma since my case no. is somewhat high. But if DV doesn't affect our H1B or I-140 petitions, then in that case, we can consider going to Bangladesh (my country). But still thinking what to do.

Our case # is below 600 from EU.Pleas see the Department of State archives for visa bulletins to get an idea abt your interview etc for your region.

Good luck with your case!!!
