E11 is the category for principal alien. E12 and E13 are spouse and children of E11 category alien respectively.
E1* is the employment based first preference category.
E2* is similar for employment based 2nd preference category.

Section 203(b)1 A is the section of Immigration law under which your category E1 falls.

No, the above explanation about E12 and E13 is incorrect!

EB-1: Employment Based First Preference
EB-2: Employment Based Second Preference
EB-3: Employment Based Third Preference

EB-1 is further divided into:
E1-1: First Preference Extraordinary Ability Worker
E1-2: First Preference Outstanding Professor or Researcher
E1-3: First Preference Multinational Executive or Manager

EB-2 is divided into:
E2-1: Second Preference Advance Degree or Exceptional
Aibility Worker
and some other subcategories that I don't know

EB-3 is divided into:
E31, E32: Third Preference Skilled Workers/Professionals
EW-3: Third Preference Unskilled Worker

Section 203 (b) (1) (A) is for Extraordinary Ability Worker = E11
Section 203 (b) (1) (B) is for outstanding professor or researcher
= E12

thanks open_sesame

thanks so much. That was really very detailed. Now when I check processing times I will have to look at the times under E11 right?:

Yeah, you are in E11 category.

As far as the processing times, I am afraid they are not that accurate.

For example, the current processing time for E12 is 04/03/02, but many March, even Feb. cases are stilling pending at this moment.
