My info is as follows:

1. Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, 2001, Canadian university
2. 4 refereed journal articles and 4 conference papers
3. Working in an automotive company as structural analyst for lightweight materials (such as composites) characterization, design, analysis and applications with computer modeling and simulation technology
4. Involving DOE project
5. Can obtain reference letters from university professors/industrial executives/government officers or agents

Thank you for your input.

I filed by my self the NIW once, but end up with the whole package returned to HR only because of a subtle mistake, which delay my I140 for almost one and half year.

So I suggest you be careful of self petition, you never know where you are going to make a mistake. The money for a good lawyer is worthwhile, I spend $2000 to get it done.

Good luck.

Upstair, you can only qualify for the NIW if you can get strong letter from government agency.

I know this post is going back about a month, but the recent Appeals ruling posted on this message board clearly indicates that a letter from a gov't agency is not required.
