RESEARCH:

My research studies why diabetics suffer more from heart attacks, strokes understading the causes of increased heart and vascular problems (heart attack, stroke and their complications) in diabetes. The main focus of my work is to investigate the mechanisms of vascular disease underlying the development of hypertension and coronary heart disease in diabetes and obesity.
I study vascular function and electrical currents in microvessels (arteries). I have been trained in several research techniquesa including molecular biology, patch-clamp techniques and in vitro vascular studies. My research work uniquely integrates all these techniques.
