Dear Gurus
1. My wife's and my current EAD expires on Aug/04/03.

2. We have applied for our renewal in the month of Feb 03. We have NOT received the official receipts as yet. However based on the backside of the cleared check we got the WAC number which is WAC-03-116...

3. When i found the status of our case it says the Receipt date is March 3.

4. Now since it is 90 Plus days from the receipt date (AND since we have NOT received the official receipt as yet ) ""do you gurus suggest we apply for the IEAD immediately? ( Original EAD is valid till Aug 04 03.""

I look forward to your advice please.

It might not need a guru to answer this :)

Based on the recent approval trend of EAD, it is very likely you could get your EAD card before 08/04/03. Why don't you wait till end of July, if you have not rcved your card then, it is not late to get your iEAD. my 2 cents.
 
you can go ahead and apply for iEAD but it will be valid only for 8 months from the date of issue. may be you can wait till late july... you might get your EAD approved by then otherwise you can always go for the iEAD

If you are working on EAD, go get iEAD.

This is so because, if they issue an RFE meanwhile, on your EAD, later they will deny you an iEAD.
 
another opinion

Given that INS is approving EADs at a very fast pace, its possible that there can be a delay in sending cards out, though the applications is approved (Ive not gotten my card or approval notice yet & its over 15 days after approval)...If the EAD is vital for ur job, then it may be safer to get ur iEAD, since it may be better than waiting for INS to send you the documents at its own pace - esp if ur co may ask you to present ur renewed card to continue employment (mind you, I am guessing abt this)...

wait until early july & then decide...WAC-116...for all you know you will be approved in few days...mine was wac-090 & was approved last week may

I think we will go for it. Now that we DONT have a receipt and only have the EAD orginal card will that do.

Any specific document that you would advice us to carry.

Its very likely that at local BCIS office they may say that since your existing EAD is valid till Aug first week why don't you wait until that time and most probably your EAD will be approved by then if it is not, then come for iEAD (on or just before that expiry date).

When I went to the local INS office to collect my iEAD, they never asked when my 1st EAD was expiring. They looked at the pending application - more than 90 days and he said OK you are eligible for iEAD and we walked out with iEAD
