Every expert and friend,

I do not think it is possible because any court will not be able to offer such a letter. A court can only prove if a specific case has been processed or not.
Anyway, I am totally confused by this post.
Please help!

Then I answered 5 civic questions (there's a funny story behind this, but I'll write about it later). I did not need to show any paperwork (although I brought at least 10 lbs of original documents with me). Then the officer said that I would receive a letter in the mail in a couple days. Then she handed me an envelope which contained a US passport application. This entire interview lasted no more than 5 mn. It was very quick.

I went home happy. A couple days had past, and I anxiously waited for the oath ceremony letter. Unfortunately today (2 weeks later), I received a letter asking me to provide a court letter indicating all traffic violations... The irony is that I have never received a traffic ticket. ( Only a parking ticket once for not seeing a street cleaning sign).

I am kind of surprised by the letter. So I am not sure where to go to provide such evidence (clean record, no traffic ticket anywhere). Does anyone have any suggestion on what I can do? I hope this is all they need, because I already had my interview... and was already impatient to be naturalized.

So those of you out there who are still working on your application, my advice, is: DO include citation copies...

My question: Where do I get that evidence of "no traffic violation"? I'd greatly appreciate any advice.

Thanks,

You could request your driving record from the states you held a license in ... your parking ticket may not show up there either. At least one parking ticket I received in another state was not listed in my DMV of that state (I listed it in my petition anyway). I did not send any copies (ticket, payments,DMVs) with the application but I will have them available during the interview.

Yes you must get a copy of your driving record. Any driving license office should be able to get you that (from the state). In my oath ceremony one guy was turned away because he had a traffic violation and did not have a proof that he had paid the fine..

or you can just write to the states which you held their DLs for a small fee. i do not think it worths for 29.xx for getting a DMV record from 3rd party. it is just my 2 cents.

Yikes! We are applying in the Twin cities area and got a ticket in CA in '98 and '99. Went to traffic school and paid fine but have no proof ...never thought of preserving it. Have written to CAdmv and sent the 5 bucks but no news yet, am wondering if it is worth to try this 29.99 option also. Did not mention in the application that we had a ticket - again did not realise that citation meant ticket. Whew! why have they made it so difficult. I realise they're trying to be cautious ...

wish me luck, will post me experience. interview in 2 weeks time.

Did you receive 652 from the officer?

i think if DMV does not have your record, the 29.99 option would be able to pull it for you. however, you should write to the county which you received the ticket from. they shall have your records and they would keep your records in computer, unless they said they would only keep 5 years of the records. etc

if it is the case, you just have to write down.... 1998, 1999, traffic voliation, paid fine. on your form.

I disclosed the traffic tickets during the interview, but the officer did not ask me for the proof of payment (even thought i spent so much time to track down every ticket i got in past 7 years).

actually, on the ticket you received, it actually says "citation" on it.

Unfortunately, this 29.99 option does not service CA! I also realised that I filled in the wrong form for getting the records from DMV . I have to fill in the new form and send it on Monday and my interview is in the last week of OCT. A long shot that I'll get it before then. Oh well...just have to stay calm and experience the ride. Hope it's smooth and does not take long ...

thanks for your information. I hope they don't ask for any proof and we get lucky. Right now that's all I can hope for.

I was a resident of Ohio in 1995-1996. I got 2 tickets in that state during my 2 years stay there. when I called (DMV - OH) to ask them about information of payment for the tickets, they said they dont maintain anything more than 5 years. One of the ticktes, I dont even remember the county, and unfortunately did not save any details as never expected to use those again...! Anyway, do you think the internet service people are talking about for $29.99 to get the reports, would they get me details of my payment to those long ago tickets? I dont want to pay the money to know later that they cannot locate those tickets!

Thanks!
