Security Clearance
Guys,
Security Clearance is of many forms and shapes. One is from the Department of Defence (DoD) and another from other Government agencies like the Department of state, Commerce, etc. These are difficult to get especially the DoD. They require US citinzenship as a minimum. There are other requirements also like polygraph, etc. GC holders are not eligible nor EAD.
The problem is that there is such an anti-immigration climate that a lot of companies FALSELY require the US citizenship.
Under EAD, people are also subjected to "Export Control" rules as they are technically per the US Code "foreigners" or "aliens". These rules come again from the DoD (ITAR) or Department of State.
That is why projects like KASHMIR's have importance. A great percentage of jobs are not accessible..
