When did you apply? If you only applied recently, there is a major change to take place. Rather than waiting 15 years to get your green card, you may only wait a year or so. Please post your notice date so that we can help you.

The wait for your card is about twenty years. But this new law should solve this problem.

i applied for adjustment in the beginning of 2004. i just need to know the steps from that point to getting the GC and fees, that is all.:)

You already paid for the application and fingerprint fees when you applied, I presume.

You should just sit tight now and they will contact you soon.

i paid the application fee, not sure if it included fingerprinting fee ( i think it did) i know:) that all i can do is sit and wait but please no one seems to answer my original question:
what are the steps and fees associated with them form here to getting the green card ( what kind fo work and money will i have to involve in this) that is what I need to know:) you guys are totally avoiding my question:)thx

I do not know what you are really asking. When your turn comes, an INS officer will assess your file. She will probably send you a letter asking you for some kind of additional information (do not even try to guess what she wants as it varies from case to case). Then she will approve your case.

You do not have to pay for anything except the medical exam.

Again I do not know what the heck you are asking.

Well first they will ask u for ur fingerprints..then they will ask for u to do biometrics..once that clears..they may ask for something missing.like if u have some old info in ur file..(old address, phone number)...u already paid the fee..so nothing else needs to be paid

i dont think my question is so complicated:) wantmygcnow is the only one startibg to answer it:
so
step1.i send the application and paid the fee
step2. what do u mean they will ask me for fingerprints, i already went to get fingerprinted once during asylum application process
step3. what is biometrics, when does that happen and what is the price, if any
when do i submit medical exam, where should i get this done, how much is it and can i have it done now so i save the time if they start rolling our adjustments faster? i remember there was some fee of 1000 mantioned on CIS site? the one i paid when i applied for adjustment was a few hundred dollars, not more.
sorry if i am not clear guys, i do appreciate your answers, really!:) thx

OK let me take another stab. For the time being, your fingerprint is only good for one application. Your earlier one was for your asylum case only. You are now applying for something else they will need to take your FP again.

Biometrics is a fancy word for your thumbprint (for your actual green card) and your photo (also for your green card). It does not cost anything extra.

You go to a doctor approved by the INS (the list of approved doctors is somewhere on the INS homepage) for your physical. The price is set by the doctor. Expect to spend about $200 to $300 at least. Do this only after the INS tells you to becasue the medical report does expire.

The $1000 fee you talked about has no bearing for asyees.

ok,i get it. is there any way to avoid the fee for the medical exam or to make it minimal. thanks, you guys are very nice to answer, thx!

so biometrics and fingeprinitng is the same thing, i will have to do only once from here on? how much time usually between fingerpinting (biometrics) and request for medical exam? how much time from medical exam until approval and GC issuance? thanks again:)

I do not think you can "avoid" it unless you know an approved doc who can do it for free for you or if you give up your green card application!!!!!!
:) :) :) :)

Do shop around because the prices vary widely.

Also check your health insurance fine print. You MAY get a partial reimbursement.

Nobody can answer your questions about the timeframe. Probably a few months. It depends.

Just sit tight.

Fingerpriints are done to make sure you are not a criminial. Biometrics is done to say Ok you are good and we will take your picture and your thumb print for your Actual Green CARD.....

Usually biometrics are done if your GC is ready for approval..maybe 6 months before your approval...

ok, an how much time usuaally one gets asked for the medical papers before biomterics? anyone? thanks!:)
