Hello All,

I had applied for political Asylum in 1993. I never had an interview. It's been 10 years. I had 10 EAD. Finally last week INS has scheduled my first asylum interview.
The interview is in Chicago. In time like this I am very nervous. I like to ask every one to provide me some suggestions or feed back.

Thanks

Ravi

Ravi,
My advice to you is : it is ok. Just be yourself in the interview. Tell the interviewer about your ordeal in your home country and express your pain and suffering. In short, be real. Remember the interviewers are usually less educated and more insensitive than the judges. There is a pretty good chance that they will not approve you (statistics say only 5 % get approved). However this rate increases when it comes to actaully meeting an immigration judge (20%). Do not think about what would happen but think of what you will say. Remember your 10 years stay in America is a great asset that you have. It shows that you have a legitimate fear for the last 10 years and that you can not go back home. Just be yourself and be genuine. One more thing. The interviewers are usually trained to trick those who say lies. So if you are not lying, you will be ok. Tell the truth and the truth will set you free. Good luck my friend
