If it was me I w'd make sure I don't miss any letters from USCIS. Cause as we all know if we miss any appointment date requested by USCIS could cause a whole longer waiting!!!!!! for case processing.
So far my experience is USCIS moves like a turtle & if you give them excuses like missing a RFI/RFE/FP things in that nature you could easily assume what could be the result.
I sure understand we all have life to go on & can't just stay home at all times but keep in touch with USCIS as much as possible atleast till receiving GC.
As I said earlier make sure don't miss any of their requesting letter. If possible request a friend or relative who can periodically check your mail box & keep you posted that info.
You know I personally don't like the idea to change address. Other's could disagree with me but dealing with USCIS for the last 12/13 years I w'd always say unless you have to (means no other choices left that's different) please avoid doing so. Now please go & do the right thing. Use your own judgement. Just don't allow USCIS with any excuses to delay your processing.
My processing your processing these are all very important for us but I wish it meant the same for USCIS. Thatway we all don't have to wait all this time.
Good luck & have a safe trip my friend.
Atique.

BTW, the p.o. box is NOT accepted by UCSIC.
you are wrong, USCIS does accept PO box as a mailling address. but you also need a physical residence address. I use this way to get BIO and RFI without any problem.

Cant you have anyone check yiour mail? or forward to smoene else's address? Or hold for pickup? Your local post office allows the hold for pickup option, where someone designated can pick up your mail every evening...they have to be approved by you though...

I got P.O. Box sa mailing address,no problem with uscis.

I Would Not Leave The Country If I Was You, Not Until I Have Completed All The Requrements, And Also Not For 4 Months, But It Is Your Case You Know The Best.
Also I Would Not Recomend Anybody To Leave The Country On Rtd For More Than 30 Days.

Because that way you it's harder to prove that you were residing the whole time in the US, becase no employer will let you on vacation for 4 months, and also a requirement I read somewhere, I'll research and post it

so:

ok, first I want to say that I was away for a couple of months in the past and had no problem so I think MACA is wrong. I have a friend who will collect my mail and send it to me but I just wanted to know how to go about giving USCIS a PO BOx as a mailing address? what does it mean they accept PO BOX but need a physical address as well?and that PO Box (and if needed new physical address) would be in a different state then the one I am in now, it should not matter right? (I havea friend whose GC was sent to a PO box a few months ago.
thanks all for giving me advise, I appreciate it greatly!

you can just change your mailing address to PO Box and keep the physical address same as the present address. the PO Box in different state from the state of your physical address is acceptable. my PO box and physical address are in different states, because i'm studying in college.

would they still send anything to the physical address? 'cause if they do I wont have anyone at it to collect it for me? thanks

Not really. I know tons of employees who take off 6 month to a year for vacation..take care of a sick family member or pregnancy. Its called the Family Medical Leave ACt and no one can do anything. If you take 6 months off because your wife just had a baby and want to show the baby european hotties..I dont think USCIS can come and say "NO EMPLOYER WILL GIVE YOU 6 MONTHS OFF"...Thats just baseless..Maca show us some proof..
