Please advise on H1 Transfer

Hi ,

I am working for a company on a company in MO and have got an offer from a new company here.
My exiting H1 is set to expire in Jan 2005 ( with further extension possible till jan 2007 i.e 6 yr limit).
I would like to get my H1 B transferred to the new company.
Can someone outline the steps required (i mean prev wages/lca etc) for the same including the documents that I may need to submit and whom/where to submit .I heard some steps can be done online ? is that true

It is the responsibility of new employer to transfer your H1. Your new employer might already have an immigration attroney to take care of these kind of issues.
Steps:
Employer has to advertise the position and wait for responses, if no response to advertisement, file for LCA and after LCA is approved by DOL, file I-129 for H1 transfer with approved LCA.
 
Thanks .Actually the layer of the company is not very familiar with the proces and i wanted to make sure he did not mess up.
My current expiration date on visa is jan 2005 ( with further extension possible till jan 2007). So If I transfer now will the transferred visa have a new expiration date or the same jan 2005 ?
Does anything need be done with my wifes h4 visa if Iam tranfering ? She is in india at this moment ?
