Hello Everybody,

I'm on a J1 visa & subjected to the 2 year home country residency requirement. I have obtained the NORI certificate from the Ministry of Education, New Delhi. The passport office in Chennai had forwarded the NORI certificate directly to the Indian Consulate in Houston. Unfortunately they did not send me a copy. Somebody did confirm that the NORI clearance from the passport office in Chennai had reached the Consulate in Houston.

I'm still waiting on obtaining the NORI clearance from the Home Department in Tamil Nadu. The police verification was completed almost 2 months back.

Would it be possible for me to apply for the waiver with the 2 clearances from the Ministry of Education, New Delhi & the Passport office in Chennai? Is there anyway I could get a copy of my NORI clearence that was sent by the Passport office in Chennai?

What should I do? I'm on my final phase of J1 & will have to obtain a clearance?

It is common and that is not going to create any problem.

Unfortunately..NO. Final NORI will be issued from Washington Indian embassy based on letter sent from Houston embassy for which you need all three letters.
As for as PP office, you do not need another copy..as long as they have received it at Houston.
What should I do? I'm on my final phase of J1 & will have to obtain a clearance?
Keep checking with Houston embassy..you can also request your folks and friends back home to contact home ministry and expedite the process..
