Please advise !!! EAD/I765 issue

Hi ,
MY Problem :
Recently my I140 was approved (filed concurrently along with I485) and
I applied for I 765/EAD application online.
In the application it asks for

10. Alien Registration Number (A number) or I-94 number (if any)
I specified my I94 number.

I scheduled an appointment at the local INS Application Service Center.
When I visited the local office for fingerpriniting and photgraph, the INS officer there said that the application will be rejected because I provided the I94 number instead of the A number. This A number appears on I485 receipt notice.
Questions :
1. What can be done to correct it ?
2. I have not yet mailed the suporting documents. What are the supporting documents I need to mail ?
3. Will it be rejected by Vermont Service center ?

If the app is rejcted.. i think i...t might be good idea to reapply
 
Ask the officer itself. whats the way out. Since there is always a way and you are totally in legal boundaries. Mistakes happen.

no it should not be an issue.

I think it should not be an issue. I too have given my I-94 # for my AP. This was inspite of me having A#. Even in case if it is rejected the legal procedure is not going to be tough in this case.
