Please advise - card renewal and travel

I had previously sent in a request for change of name to USCIS and that was effected. The only change to the name was the middle name but the first and last stay the same. I did not, however, request to replace my greencard, and now I need to travel internationally. My question is will I have a problem at POE when returning using the card that has my old middle name while the information they pull up at POE will reflect the new middle? What options do I have if this will be a problem, since it takes them about 5 months to process I-90, can I apply for a renewal and show them the receipt at POE? Any advice would be appreciated.

What exactly happened -- you changed your name via a court process, and notified USCIS of your name change (by sending a letter?) without applying to change your green card?

That's exactly right, Jackolantern. I sent them the court decree showing a change in middle name and they made the change. However, I now have to travel but do not have 5 months to wait for a replacement card. What recourse do I have, if any? Would it help to apply and carry the receipt notice to show at POE? Thank you so much for your help on this.

They made the change how? They didn't give you a new green card, so what did they give you to acknowledge the name change?

After you get the I-90 receipt, you can make an Infopass appointment and ask them to stamp your passport with I-551.

However if your passport still has the previous name that might not help. In that case it's probably better to just carry the old green card along with the name change court document. Then initially show only your green card and passport at the POE; if they say something about the difference in your name you can then show the name change document.
