Please Advise!!! AP birth date error

I received my Advance Parole approval recently. I noticed that my birth date on the document is wrong (year, month are correct, just the day is incorrect). I need to travel out of the country. Should I get a correction from the INS or will it be alright to use the current AP. How do I get a amended AP?

Anyone with similar experience please advise.

If you have enough time before you travel (like 2-3 months), then write a letter to INS and specify the mistake and request for a corrected AP and send the original document back (keep a copy for your records). Before that, call INS and ask an IIO about this problem. Ask about the right way to get it corrected. You can also go down to the local office and make a request to correct the document. If you are in a hurry to travel. then they might oblige.

If you do not have much time I would also recommend going to your local INS office and have it corrected , they will probably issue a brand new AP for you. It happenend to me once only difference was in my AP the return date was less than the issue date ( bascially the duration was wrong) I had to go to the local office and change it, but again my AP was orginally issued in the same local office to begin with.

Thanks Chutney. I applied to VSC. I will find out if there is a local office that handles AP.
