Please advice, AP question

Gurus need your advice, sadly my mother passed away this morning and I have to leave the country for two weeks today evening. My AP is expiring on June 30th 04, however I’m still working on H1 (never used EAD). My EAD, AP and H1 all filled for renewal recently. My visa stamp on passport has expired long. My question is if I enter US on AP can I continue to maintain my H1 status? What documents should I carry with me?

carry AP documents .That should be fine. but to be on safe side you can carry I485 receipt,EAD and H1 . Remember to be back by june 30 th since your AP expries on that day.

thanks, I dont have I-485 receipt but I will certaily carry EAD and H1

I believe you are not using EAD. However you can still use AP for travel purposes with out worrying about status. To be safe, keep all of the documents with you and also try to obtain a letter from your attorney about your renewals/applications etc. I know you cannot get this letter asap, but ask your attorney to be ready with the letter just incase you need it and keep their contact number ready so that you can contact them from port of entry(assuming worst possibility).

Nevertheless, donot assume that people at USCIS is all bad and have faith in god. be sure to be back by 30th June without fail.
