On July 7, 2004, my I-485 was approved and in the mailed notification I was told to come to the Newark office for a final fingerprinting and to bring a copy of my I-94, 2 photos...is that all they need? Should i bring some additional proof (tax returns, letter from employer even though they did not ask for it?)

Also, how long does it usually take to receive the physical GC once this step mentioned above is taken?

Tax returns and letter from employer are not required.
Just bring your approval notice, I-94, passport, 2 photos, EAD (current & expired) and Advance Parole (current & expired).

About the time to receive physical GC... it really depends on which office you go to.. I went to Baltimore office and got the card within 4 weeks, but I also heard stories about not receiving the card in many months... You can go check out the approximate processing time for your pp stamping office at the GC tracker thread.

Approved on July 7, 2004 , found out by e-mail, notice arrived by mail yesterday (July 12, 2004).
 
For stamping can we go to any service center or need to go local office only. I got my approval yesterday and my home is in WA but working in CA at client location. Can i walk in to San Jose, CA INS office for stamping.

Can i take I-485 receipt notice and approval message from internet for stamping.
