Plastic card

Is there a site or phone number that we can track the status of plastic card? We got our passports stamped in the middle of Jan. When we can expect its arrival? Thanks.

beijingsteps:

In about 2 weeks you (and any dependents) will get Welcome letter(s) with a SRC number. You can punch in the SRC number on the bcis online status system http://www.immigration.com/frame/inscasestatonlinefr.html
to get a status update!

If you do not receive the welcome letter in about 4 weeks then call 800-375-5283 provide them your A number from the 551 stamp to get a status update!

It is averaging 4-6 weeks after DOE to get the plastic cards!

Thanks

Thank you, kd1403. It is very fast to get it in 4-6 weeks: The officer at POE told me it will take 8-12 months!

YEs normal time is 6-9 months but it arrives in less than 6 weeks in most cases. IF you check cptracker.com you will notice that. I got letters plus cards in less than 2 weeks after DOE. KKulkar also got in under 15 days!

Enjoy GC Life!! I am assuming from your ID that you are chinese. IF yes, then belated HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am also looking to check the status of my plastic card, but it has been delayed for a while.

My POE : Atlanta
DOE: 12/19/2003

The problem is I moved during the 1st week of Jan 2004. I anticipated this move and specified my friend's address in DS-230 Part 1 itself, to receive my plastic cards.

Looks like the INS has been sending my welcome letter to the old address. I gave a forwarding address to my relative's address. I received my welcome letter at the forwarding address only a week back. But I am still waiting for my wife's welcome letter. I am guessing it would have been returned to INS because my wife's name is not in the forwarding address at the post office.

When I checked the online status, it says

Application Type: OS155A, IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION

Current Status:

On January 20, 2004, the document we made based on the approval or registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom issued.

How long do you think it will take for the plastic card to be mailed?

Will this message at the online status will change?

And does anybody has any experience with receiving plastic card at a different address as specified in DS 230 part 1?

I am skeptical on my wife's card as there is no sign of her welcome letter itself.

Thanks.

Answer: It is currently averaging 6 weeks from DOE to recive the cards in normal cases. I would imagine a change of address may add another 4 weeks. Many a times immigration documents are not sent to forwarding addresses and hence bounce. It surprises me that you got a GC welcome letter at a forwarded address!

Answer: I received my card around 11-12th december with 11/29 as DOE. Now my online message reads as follows:
"Receipt Number: srcxxxxxxxxxx
Application Type: OS155A, IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION
Current Status: This case has been approved. On December 9, 2003, an approval notice was mailed"

Answer: A friend of mine had a similar experience with his h-1b approval (not GC). When he applied for h-1b he was as address A and when it was approved he was at address B and placed a postal mail forwarding service to address B. But when he called INS they said that immigration documents do not get forwarded to a new address via postal forward service. So he had to send a letter in writing to INS to have his h-1b approval mailed to address B which took additional 4 weeks then. This was about 4 years back when they did not have AR-11 forms!
