I noticed that most of the discussion is on the pre-approval stage. Just in case for those who got approved but still follow the forum, how long does it take for you guys to get the plastic card.

In my case 9 months have passed. My lawyer has mentioned the re-stamping thing.

Anyway to expedite the procedure?

Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Best Regards.

Talk to IIO at CSC about it. You have to give your WAC number. They might give you an idea about delay.
Of course, if you do not get your card by the time I-551 stamp expire, you have to make one more trip to INS to get another I-551 stamp.

Its very late.

You should actively pursue for the plastic card. Gone are the days of waiting for months for the card. They are issuing the cards in a matter of 3 to 4 weeks after stamping.
Your files might have been misplaced somewhere, so call repeatedly to INS.
I got stamping done on 3/24/03 and got cards on 4/16/03 and most cases are like that.

That is a huge delay!

Either the file/card is lost, or there is some other kind of delay. It looks like you might need to go for a re-stamp when it is due. Talking to an IIO might indicate the cause of delay. I have known of cases where they have advised the applicants to re-appear for stamping. In one case, they had a mailed the card but it never made it to the destination.

Well I got passport stamped in Nov,02 and I
havent received card yet. I called IIO 3 weeks
back and they told that the local office forwarded
papers to CSC in April. So they are now working
on it. This week online message changed to "Card
ordered"..

I dont know what kind of mailing service local
office uses. it took them almost 5 months to
forward documents.

AVM changed but not online msg

"Card Ordered"
AVM changed to "Card Ordered on May 2nd", but online still says "Processing Complete". Even though we had informed our change of address in writing when we went for stamping in October 02, they never updated it. On May 2nd when my wife called an IIO (after numerous attempts and approx 45 min on hold) the IIO read out the old address. My wife told her to change it to new address. When she asked to change for both her record and mine, the IIO said "Your husband has to call with his WAC#", but when my wife tried to plead, she said she will try what she can and said bye and put down the phone. I attempetd from my work place couple of times, but I could not get the line. So I thought let things happen as they are destined. Last night, after getting bored with the same online message, just thought let me try the AVM, and Bingo! there it was.

Looks like another week or so to get the card, huh? Unless of course, USPS or the card-making contractor willing otherwise.

Thanks guys for the input.

In my case I did not try the AVM recently. But the online message said "processing complete".

From my friend's experience if online message got changed to "card ordered" it should indicate a date with the message. Normally that date will show on the plastic card and the card should reach you within 2 weeks.

I guess I should take the advice and give the IIO a call.

Thanks again.

same thing with me

we are also waiting for last 8 monts, I called IIO and she said
they have not receive I 89 from District office. she will try to find it. if they can't find, then we have to goto stamping again

My friend is waiting for more than 2 years

My friend co-worker got approved in april' 2001 and still hasn't got his Card.

He just went to INS like 2 weeks back to get his passport stamped.
