MY I-485 was approved last year (October 2001). Passport stamped in Chicago INS in October 2001. Since nearly 9 months have passed and I did not receive the actual card, I called the VSC yesterday and talked with the IIO. Here is what the IIO told me.
IIO: She asked if I have done stamping at the Chicago INS?
me : I said Yes, in October 2001.
IIO: She said the VSC INS database show that there is no record of the photos/finger prints taken by the Chicago INS.
me: Does this mean that the Chicago INS did not send any infromation to VSC?
IIO: Can't say.
me: What is the solution now.
IIO: We need to check the national database to see if your data (photos and fingerprint information) is there or not. If it is there, you will get the actual plastic card in 3 weeks or so but if it is not there, you will hear (in the form of notification) from us and you have to do the passport stamping again (for actual card processing)
Any one in similar situation? I suggest that if the scenario is VSC INS and stamping at Chicago INS and the card is not received in 8 months, call the VSC to check.
The saga of never ending wait continues....
