Finally received the long awaited thing I'm from the WAC 02-155-XXXXX series, waited a couple of years on the 485, got approved/stamped early July got the card last week.

Anyway the card says country of birth 'unknown' but everything else seems fine. How to get this corrected?

I'm going to try the USCIS 1-800 number any other suggestions? Should I just ignore this?

I don't know the real impact of this error.

Since GC is a long term document, I would try really hard to get this corrected.

Remember -- it may not matter right now - but down the road in 2 or 3 yrs, who knows what CIS would come up with -- better to get things in order.
( the same reason as why you might need to get a new SS card without the "INS authorization" wording)

need to file I90

I called the 800 number, the offier asked me some questions about the 485 etc and was told me that I need to file an I-90 to get it corrected. He asked me if I had put down a country of birth on the 485 application and that "IF" it is a mistake of the USCIS then I don't need to pay the filing fee.

So, I guess that's what I'll do.

I felt like asking "could I have appeared out of thin air to not have a country of birth?"
