Plastic card question

Question to those of you who have entered using Plastic card? I just got my plastic

Do they scan the card for information (like credit card). I am just curious about the magnetic strip on the back of the card. I took some copies of the card. Just wondering if the copier will damage the magnetic strip.

I am talking about the black/brown shiny area. Just wondering if copier's light could spoil it (or any other machine readable parts of the card) in anyway. May be my concern is just paranoiac.
 
Thanks JoeF. One more question. Do we have to keep renewing the I-551 stamp on passport even after getting plastic card?
