As a primary, my 485 was approved in Oct 2004, along with my dependants.(wife and Daughter).Subsequently after Passport stamping, Me and My Wife, got our physical cards in the Early November.
Waiting for a month, i opened an inquiry for my Daughter's Physical card in Late December.
A couple of days back, i got the following response, from CSC,
"The following is provided in response to your inquiry
sent to the California Service Center:

Approved-A final decision has been made on your
I-485.Notification of approval was mailed on
09/29/04.You must obtain a new Alien Registration
Card,I-551.To do so,you must appear in person at
nearest U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services(CIS)
office.Take your passport and two recent photographs
with you to the local CIS office."

I am puzzled with this reply, and out of brains to react to this letter.
In my inquiry , i had clearly indicated that all 3 of our passports are stamped and that only my daughter's card is missing.Still i got this response.

If any of you had similar experiences, kindly share your views.
Also , i would be grateful , if you could suggest the best option to my issue.

Send them another letter

Our experience was similar to yours. I and my wife got our passport stamped in Charlotte, NC on 5/12/04. Since then, we waited for more than 5 months for our cards to come. After sending a few G-731C to CSC, we finally got a response from CSC in October saying that they do not have any proof of our ADIT processing (passport stamping) and they asked us to go to Charlotte (district office) again.

So, I sent out another letter to CSC and a letter to Charlotte in first week of November expressing my disappointment on how things have happened to me. I also sent them a copy of our stamped passport. Six weeks later, we received notification that our GCs have been ordered.

So, this is what I recommend for you - Send a letter to your district-office (where you got your PP stamped) and to CSC along with copy of the passport showing the stamp (just that page should suffice) and the letter that you received from CSC asking you to get your passport stamped. Explain that your passport already are stamped and you are not sure why you need to do them again.

Give them about 6 weeks and if you don't hear from them, just go for stamping again. I hope your daughters' GC comes without having to go through the extra trouble.
