Place of birth issue

Hi, I have a wrong place of birth mentioned in the passport , which i had used it all over the place during the green card processing. What are the issues if I try about going to change the place of birth in the passport and the green card processes. Can anybody guide me . Thanks in advance

Did you get any one of them changed? Or was it fine with the consulate?. For example, if your passport has your district name or city name as birth place and your birth certificate has nearby village name, they are fine with it I guess.

I had to get my passport corrected.
In my case, the POB in passport and my BC were totally different. In the DS-230 Part I application I put the POB as of my BC. So on the day of interview, the document collecter asked for my passport and started verifying the name, DOB and POB on the DS-230 part I against the passport. She immediately found out the mismatch and asked me to correct my passport.

So I think they dont care whether it is a village and the other is a city etc. They see a mismatch and and would ask you to correct the wrong document.

Please let me what is your POB in passport, School leaving, BC, and DS-230 part I and I can further help you.

i have same problem

GC_Milegakya,

POB in my passport and school leaving certificate is my district name.
POB in my BC is village name and also it mentions district name in small letters.

does consular officer check POB mentioned in DS230 form only with passport? or does he check with passport and BC?

If I mention POB in DS230 form according to passport, do you think it does work?
or
POB has to be same in both passport and BC?
