Hi,
I had a question with regard to my upcoming stamping of my h1b at chennai consulate. Appreciate your opinion on it.
I was on OPT previously and in h1b since March 2003 with a consulting company.
Here is what I am trying to ask.
I worked on my OPT for the same employer for 2 months in 2002 (Nov & Dec), and one month Jan in 2003 when my project ended.
My OPT expired Feb 14th 2003. and my h1b notice date is March 10th 2003. I then started on project again in Apr 2nd 2003 and till now continuing on project.
So I did not get paid for a few weeks towards the end of my OPT and also did not get paid from March 10 2003 (My h1b notice date) to Apr 1st.
Now in OPT, I need not be on payroll or be paid for idle time, so I am not worried about that. But what about the 20 days gap between getting my h1b & starting on project.
Can one start a little late (as in not being paid) from the h1b approval date?
Also when the consular officer looks at the total amount in my 2003 w2 I hope he understands that its not based on working for a year, but for about 10 months.
Appreicate your paitence to read all this.
thx.
