Did any body have this type of issue?

I delayed my I-94 extention. Due to this paid penalty of 1000$ in Aug 2002.Mean time my GC was in process..... got my EAD card in sep 02.
Now that i have EAD card can i apply for SSN ?

Go ahead..

As I know, SS department just needs a valid document from INS and EAD is a very valid document.

I feel you can go ahead and apply for it.

u can get the SSN there wont be any problem. make sure u get it soon bcos one of my friends was called for a interview just bcos he didn't have a SSN.
