Hi

Is there a possibility that DOL may allow conversion of Non-RIR to PERM when the PERM is implemented eventually. I think they will since we have a similar change allowed when RIR is introduced and the good thing was you could also retain the Priority Date..!!!
I am thinking that this may be a good way of locking in the Priority Date and then when the PERM is implemented and regulations are available run the appropriate ADs and do the conversion...

And, for a minute let us put aside PERMs positives and negatives and just focus on this... :-)

Any insights, opinions, thoughts....

Thanks,

I believe you do have the option of converting a non-RIR or RIR petition to a PERM petition and you will retain the priority date.

However you still have to go thru all the recruitment effors that PERM requires.

Another point - PERM supposedly would take 21 days to adjudicate on any particular case once it is received.
So there is really no advantage in trying to retain an earlier priority date.
