I am a newly minted US citizen. My wife and I both naturalized in July and got our PIO cards.
My son, a naturally born citizen of US has had a PIO card since he was six months old. That PIO card has information from his then active US passport. We used that passport and PIO card once to visit India.
Recently he has obtained a new US passport as they are only valid for 5 years. I am reading conflicting information about PIO endorsement.
1) It is required to get PIO card endorsement with new passport number.
2) If I am willing to carry both the old US passport and new US passport with me on the next visit to India, I would be fine without endorsement.
Has anyone done option 2? Is there any hassle at the point of entry in India? Is it safer (albeit at a cost and hassle of travisa/consulate) to choose option 1?
Thanks.
