Sorry to post in this forum but this is where I think I might get the fastest response.
The consulate general, NY form does not ask for 2 copies but the embassy form mentions two copies of the application form.
Could anyone with experience with the NY consulate mention how many copies were really required.

On another note: I called Boston French consulate and they said that transit visa is reqd for AP holders. He did not acknowledge the memo from the atlanta consulate and said that since I am in Boston jurisdiction, visa is reqd for me:confused:

could you give more details

I tried to look at the consulate site but couldnt find it. where can I find it.
Thank you for the help.

PIO Card

Hi,

First check here which website is for you.

Indian Consulate in USA

Download, Print and fill up the piocard.pdf

This is what I have done.
=================
1. Applied through mail
2. Download, print and fill up the form.
2. Gone to my bank and notarized my daughter's birth Certificate
and Passport.
3. Had a money order of US$160 (155+5).
4. Made a copy of mine and wife's passport.
5. Attached 4 passport size photograph (taken in Ritz Camera)
6. Bought a ink pad and had a thumb impression of my daughter
whereever they required signature or TI. (bcos my daughter 3
mos.)
7. Sent it through Certified mail with a tracking option.

Hope this will help.

Unbelievable.

Thanks Unbelievable

I was confused when you were talking about Britain.
The PIO card required 2 copies of application form. other info by unbelievable stands true. Total photos reqd are : 4
Regarding thumbprint- an easy way to do it is when the kid is sleeping. prevents smudging and much easier to do it.
Thank you.

Unbelievable.

did you send your daughter's original passport along with the application or just photo-copy of that ,how much time it normally take to get PIO .

Thanks

feb140,

I only send the notarized passport copy of my daughter. They are not going to do anything in the passport. PIO card is a seperate thing like passport.

Within a 7 business day you will get it normally.

Unbelievable

Both parents copies

I did send both. Notarization is needed on the photocopies. can get it done at any local bank (sometimes free if you have acct).

I only notorized my daughter's passport and birth certificate and I got the PIO card and they are in India right now. If you can do with your passport...no harm.

Unbelievable.

Notorization question

Hi,

I have a question regarding the way documents are notorized.

My notory checked the passport and the xerox copies and gave a document saying that the xerox copy is the true copy of the original and notorized that document only and mentioned the number of pages on the first document.

Does Indian Consulate accept this format of notorization of passport or do I need to get each page of the passport notorized?

Thanks

can try that...I am not sure though

What you can do is to ask him/her to notarize just the main page where the picture/sign is. That should do. It worked for me.

Question 14...

In question 14. on the New York PIO card form:

14. Whether the applicant or either of his/her parents or any of his/her grandparents or great grandparents was born and was
permanent resident in territories falling in present day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, as on the date of the notification of the
Scheme, i.e. 30.3.1999, if so, the following details may be indicated:

In 1999 I was in U.S. So should I write my and my wife's details? Or grandparents? The space is not enough there... in general what is this supposed to be? What did you guys right?

Any help is greatly appreciated...
SK

just your wife's and yours

no need to write grandparents. i just wrote our details. kind of redundant because we give the same info somewhere else.

To ag...

So you wrote grandparents info in just question 13.:

13. Whether the applicant or either of his/her parents or grandparents or great grandparents held an Indian passport at any time. If
so, details thereof:

Is that right? There is space only for 3 and so I was confused, I wrote just for me and wife. Should I write grandparent info there? Please let me know...
