We got our US citizenship and passport recently and now I need to travel to India, by end of June. I am thinking of getting a PIO card - but not sure how long it may actually take in NY. Although the consulate website says 2 to 3 weeks, it also says it can take longer if case has to go to India. Can anyone share their experience on how long the PIO card is taking in NY ?

Also, while looking at the PIO application, Question 13 and 14 are a little unclear.

Question 13 asks : "Whether the applicant or either of his/her parents or grandparents or great grandparents helad an Indian Passport at any time. "

My parents did have passports but I do not have their details. So is it sufficient to list just the details of my own passport or do I list their names and put not known for Passport details ? Also do I need to list only my most recent passport details or list ALL Indian passports including expired ones ?

Is there any need to provide proof of Indian origin other than your old / current Indian passport ?

Thanks

You should just mention your own passport details. No need to get your parents passport details as you are applying on the basis that you are Person of Indian Origin. Only most recent passport details are needed, not old one..
