PIO and Dual Citizenship

Hello,

My spouse recently became an US Citizen and but was born in an South American (SA) Country. She has PIO issued on her SA passport (She got her PIO under the marriage to Indian citizen category). Her native country allows their citizens to have dual citizenship. Here is the situation:

1. South American Passport with PIO card
2. US Passport

If we were to travel to India, She can enter the India using her South American passport that has the PIO card.

The question is when we leave India, Should she show both the passports so there is evidence for legal entry into the US. Any one has experience with this situaton.

Or should we re-apply for PIO as a new application on her US passport.

Thanks to the forum for the advise.

It would not make any difference (just more bureaucratic hassle). She should enter and exit India on her South American passport but only show the US passport to an airline agent at check-in.

India also has immigration checkout on departure and she might have to show her US passport as well to the immigration agent to prove that she is authorized to enter the US.
