Physician wife on H-4 visa wants to volunteer for work

Hi,

I am on H-1B visa and my wife has the H-4 visa. She has attended the medical school in India and is preparing for residency. She wants to do some voluntary work at the local hospitals, e.g. clinical and reasearch observership. Please let me know whether she can do that with her current visa status.

Yes she can volunteer. My husband volunteered for 3 different organizations through the years until he was allowed to work. No problems.

could u throw some light on this volunteer id card ? is it only for medical proffessionals ?even am on h4 and would like to know abt volunteer opportunities.

Hi,

The hospital where she is volunteering for work has a program for volunteers. They issue ID cards after you attend a 3 hour information session providing the rules and regulations. She sat in that session and got the ID card soon thereafter.
