Physical Presence required to file for 485

Hello,
 Does a person have to be physically present in the USA to file for the 485. I intend to file for my wife, but she is in India. What are my options?
Any help appreciated.

Yes...she needs to be here in the USA

AOS - Adjustment of Status means she is already in the USA on some other legal status.
